Voice Memos or iTalk Fluency Focus:
The ipods are great for working on fluency. You can attach the tune talk device, or utilize headphones that also have a microphone. Students can record themselves reading a reading passage (like reading A-Z, or you could have them read an excerpt from a book). You can time it for a minute if you want or have them read for longer. After they record their voice, they can listen back to it, and then make note of mistakes they made or focus on their fluidity and expression. They can then read and record again, and then listen to it once again. You can utilize a student friendly fluency chart so that the children are able to track their own progress. They highlight the number of words correct per minute that they read. They can mark the chart each time they read so they can track their progression.
